YouTube Music now lets you share timestamps for songs and podcasts

YouTube Music is getting a new useful feature that lets users share links with timestamps. Here's how it works.

Earlier this year, Google added the Podcasts app to its graveyard and urged users to transition to YouTube Music. While the tech giant has already integrated several podcast-related features, a handful of functionalities are still missing.

Now, Google is rolling out a new feature that lets you share timestamps for songs, mixes and podcasts. Similar to how the functionality works on YouTube, the shareable link enables users to listen to a song or podcast at the specified timestamp. This is really handy if you want to share a particular part of a song or just want to redirect others to a part of the podcast you think is interesting.

To share timestamps on YouTube Music, simply tap ‘Share’ when listening to a song or podcast. On the ‘Share’ sheet, you will see a toggle on the top right that says “Start at x:xx.” Turn it on before sharing, and you are good to go. When you do so, the app will add t=XX to the end of the link

Timestamp sharing on YouTube Music is rolling out as a server-side update, but we noticed that the feature only appeared for us on devices running Apple iOS, Android 14 and Android 15, so if you are running on an older Android or iOS version, it may take a while for it to appear on your device.
