Acting on credible and specific information, the police raided A-1 Luxury Spa, located at Sai Market, Peer Muchalla, on the night of December 15 around 8:30 pm.
According to the police, the team comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Maninder Singh, constable Avtar Singh, constable Palaminder Singh, and woman constable Sompal Kaur was on routine patrol near D-Mart, Peer Muchalla, when an informer tipped them off. The informer disclosed that young women were being lured with job offers and forced into prostitution at the spa, where customers were charged hefty amounts. It was further revealed that seven to eight girls were being called at a time to run the illegal operation.
Following the raid, eight women were rescued, while three youths were taken into custody. A case was registered against Sukhdev, a resident of Jind (Haryana); his associate Vikram from Meham, Rohtak; Sagar from Takhana, Karnal; and Karan Kumar from Mirzapur Ajgaon, Unnao (Uttar Pradesh).
Given the seriousness of the offence, the police immediately summoned the tehsildar to the spot, in whose presence the entire building was sealed. Police officials stated that the illegal activity was allegedly being run with the connivance of the showroom owner, a role that is also under investigation.
The accused were booked under sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, along with sections 111(2)(b) and 61(2) of the IPC. Police said further investigation is underway and additional arrests are likely as the probe progresses.
