Xiaomi unveils Redmi Note 14 Pro, Pro Plus with EV-grade battery, AI features

The Chinese smartphone maker also launched the Xiaomi Sound outdoor smart speaker, Redmi Buds 6, and an ultra-slim 4,900 mAh powerbank.

Xiaomi has introduced three new models of its flagship Redmi Note 14 series – the entry-level Note 14, the mid-tier Note 14 Pro, and the high-end Note 14 Pro Plus – with some major upgrades such as the segment’s first 6,200mAh EV-grade battery, dual sided Corning guerilla glass, and Android 15-based Xiaomi HyperOS 2 with a host of AI features.

At its launch event in New Delhi on Monday, December 9, the Chinese smartphone maker showed off the latest devices of the Redmi lineup that has been developed with an emphasis on AI.

Alongside the Redmi Note 14 series, the company also launched the Xiaomi Sound outdoor smart speaker, Redmi Buds 6, and an ultra-slim 4,900 mAH powerbank.

“We are so proud to have made such a substantial contribution to India’s digital revolution, driving innovation and touching people’s lives in so many different ways. Our inherent strengths in technology married with our deep understanding of the Indian consumer has allowed us to be a part of India’s social fabric,” said Xiaomi India president Muralikrishnan B, adding that the company has delivered over 250 million smartphones and 350 million devices across a whole range of categories in the last ten years. Last month, the Xiaomi executive announced that he would be stepping down from his role by the end of 2024.

Here is everything that was announced at the launch of Xiaomi’s flagship Redmi Note 14 series.

Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is packed with a massive 6,200mAH battery that guarantees up to 1,600 charging cycles before dropping to 80 per cent capacity. The 6.67 inch 1.5K AMOLED display is capable of delivering 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness – making it the brightest Note ever, as per Xiaomi. The smartphone comes with Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers to go with the display, powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip that has been used to enable interconnectivity between Xiaomi devices.

Its front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the back and additional shock-absorbent layers behind the screen, motherboard, battery, etc. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is also certified to handle a 1.5 metre drop, Xiaomi said. In terms of water and dust resistance, the device is IP 66 + IP 68 + IP 69-rated.

On the camera side of things, it has a 50MP primary camera with a Xiaomi custom Light Hunter 800 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens with a Sony sensor, and a 50MP telephoto lens with a 2.5x optimal zoom and Portrait Master.

The device comes in Spectre blue, Phantom purple,Titan Black with a curved back, 8.75mm width, and dual-tone finish.It will be eligible for a handful of editing-focused AI features such as AI Image Expansion, AI Erase Pro, AI SmartClip, and AI Cutout.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is priced at Rs 29,999 onwards and will go on sale on December 13 on Flipkart and Xiaomi’s website as well as retail outlets.

Redmi Note 14 Pro

Similar to its elder sibling, the 6.67 inch Redmi Note 14 Pro comes with a 1.5K AMOLED display and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Protection-wise, it will come encased in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is now IP68 + IP69 rated which means that it can handle being submerged in 1.5 metres of water.

The Note 14 Pro will have a vegan leather finish and be available in three colourways: Phantom Purple, Ivy Green, and Titan Black.

In terms of the optics, the Sony 50MP Sony LYT 600 is being brought to the Note 14 Pro as well. Additionally, it has a 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro sensor. The phone is packed with a 5,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The device will be eligible for over 18 AI features via monthly updates.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro will be available at a retail price at Rs 23,999 onwards and will go on sale on December 13 on Flipkart and Xiaomi’s website as well as retail outlets.

Redmi Note 14 5G

The Redmi Note 14 5G will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor for the first time. The 6.67-inch display offers a peak brightness of 2100 nits with a 120Hz refresh rate. It packs a 5110mAH battery with support for 45W turbo-charging. The base model will also come with certain AI features, the company said.

The Redmi Note 14 5G model starts at Rs 17,999 and will go on sale on December 13 on Flipkart and Xiaomi’s website as well as retail outlets.

Xiaomi Sound Outdoor Speaker

The 30W speaker can be connected wirelessly to over 100 speakers with Xiaomi’s speaker sync technology. It is IP 67-rated for dust and water resistance and promises to deliver 12 hours of music playback on a single charge. The device supports the latest 5.4 Bluetooth version and allows for hands-free calling.

The Xiaomi Sound Outdoor Speaker will go on sale from December 13 at a starting price of Rs 3,499.

Redmi Buds 6

The Redmi Buds 6 promises up to 49 decibel active noise cancellation and supports 42 hours of playback with 360-degree spatial audio. Its design has been upgraded with a new flow LED battery indicator, and it also has a dual device pairing mode.

The Buds 6 with dual-driver technology is priced at Rs 2,799 and goes on sale from December 13 onwards.

Xiaomi Powerbank

The 10mm ultra-slim powerbank designed by Xiaomi is said to be slimmer than a AAA battery or pocket perfume and can fit in your wallet. It weighs 93 grams and supports Type C fast-charging with a 18W input and 20W output. The powerbank is protected by 12 layers and comes with an additional carry pouch in the box, Xiaomi said.

It is available via crowdfunding at Rs 1,799, and early bird crowdfunding customers for the first thousand units will receive the powerbank for Rs 1,499. The crowdfunding round will start at 12 noon on December 13, Xiaomi said.
