OnePlus's foldable device was teased in January. (Image: OnePlus) For a long time, foldable phones were a Samsung and Huawei exclusive, with the two companies battling it out to see who makes the least visible crease or the strongest hinge. That’s changed now as more and more companies come out with their own foldable offerings.
After Google announced the Pixel Fold, OnePlus is seemingly the next contender in the foldables race. A new leak has revealed when the Pete Lau-run company may launch its first foldable device.
Reliable tipster Max Jumbor has stated in a tweet that OnePlus’ foldable phone is launching in August. The timeline means that the phone will likely launch after the Pixel Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. If true, it also means that the phone will boot into Android 13 out of the box, missing the expected launch date for Android 14 a just a month or two.
OnePlus first officially teased its upcoming foldable at the OnePlus 11 launch earlier this year, playing a short teaser toward the end of the event. The teaser also revealed that the phone will arrive in the third quarter of 2023. However, Jumbor’s tip now gives us a more solid date – August.
It's true: our first foldable is coming out later this year!

Not much is known about the upcoming foldable phone and it remains to be seen if it’ll be an Oppo rebrand, the way many of its other products are. But a trademark listing from January included a OnePlus V Fold, so unless the company changes its mind, chances are that the phone may carry that name.
Also considering the phone will likely be flagship, we can expect it to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and have a premium camera set.
