Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta has shared a new video on Instagram, highlighting how the Meta Quest 3 is better than Apple Vision Pro. “I finally tried Apple Vision Pro, and I think the Quest 3 is the better product, despite being seven times less expensive,” says Zuckerberg in a video using the Quest 3 mixed reality headset, utilising the high-resolution passthrough feature.
Before testing the Vision Pro, Zuckerberg expected the Quest 3 to be the better value product compared to the Vision Pro. After testing the Apple device, he believes, “Quest 3 is not just a better value product, but it is a better product, period.”
“Quest is better for the vast majority of things,” he said, adding that just like the Vision Pro the Quest 3 comes with high-resolution passthrough. He further added that Quest 3 is a lot better at other things such as moving around, playing games, hanging out with friends, and more.
According to Zuckerberg, Quest 3 is a lot more comfortable and weighs 120 grams lighter than the Vision Pro, which makes a lot of difference. With no wires, it is much easier to move around, and the field-of-view on the Quest 3 is also said to be wider with brighter screens than the Vision Pro. The motion blur on the Meta headset is also said to be better than the Vision Pro.
While he admits Apple Vision Pro has a higher resolution screen, he says, there are a lot of compromises on products when it comes to quality, comfort, and ergonomics. Just like Vision Pro, the Quest 3 also supports hand tracking; however, it misses out on eye tracking. He confirms that the future generation of Quest will come equipped with eye-tracking capabilities.
The Meta CEO also highlights that Quest’s content library is a lot deeper, and he emphasises how features like the ability to play Xbox games are only available on Quest. And he also highlights how many people thought the Vision Pro was a better product “because it is from Apple and costs $3,000 more.”
According to Zuckerberg, the Meta Quest 3 is an open-model AR headset, while the Vision Pro is a closed-model device, and he compares them with Macs and PCs.
At present, neither the Meta Quest 3 nor the Vision Pro headset is officially available in India. However, one can easily find the Meta Quest 3 for around Rs 50,000 on platforms like Amazon, while one has to import Vision Pro, which is currently limited to the US.
