The G20 Summit, which is being held in New Delhi from September 9 to 10, has brought the world’s attention to India’s capital city. However, it has also posed a challenge for the residents of Delhi, who have to face traffic disruptions and movement restrictions due to the high-level security arrangements for the summit.

To help commuters navigate through the city smoothly, Delhi Police has recommended the use of Mappl’s MapMyIndia app, a satellite-based navigation app that provides real-time updates on traffic conditions and road closures. Mappl is an India-based company that offers navigation services and maps with a very comprehensive coverage.

One of the special features that Mappl has introduced for the G20 Summit is the ability to track real-time updates on road closures and turn restrictions. For this, Mappl has collaborated with Delhi Police and integrated their data into the app. Users can see the affected roads marked in red on the map and get alternative routes.

The map also shows the officially marked Regulated and Controlled Zones in Delhi so that users can check which areas to avoid.

MapMyIndia app is available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Besides the G20-specific features, the app offers satellite view, terrain view, 360-degree view, and default map view. The app also allows users to search for places, get directions, share locations and report issues.

Mappl’s CEO Rohan Verma said, “residents and visitors can use the Mappls app to navigate smoothly and accurately in Delhi during the summit, through our partnership and coordination with Delhi Police wherein Mappls app is ingesting the traffic advisories and suggesting routes which follow the traffic restrictions.”

The endorsement for MapMyIndia comes amid the growing push for the use of ‘Made in India’ products by the government. The G20 Summit is expected to witness the participation of leaders from 19 countries and the European Union, as well as representatives from international organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
