On Wednesday, Apple announced the availability of its TV app for Android smartphones and tablets via Google Play Store, enabling millions of Android device users to access Apple TV+ exclusives natively. This expands the availability of the Apple TV app to all major platforms such as iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and Android on smartphones, tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, and televisions powered by Android TV OS, Tizen OS, webOS, and Fire OS-powered smart TVs.

Apple states that the Android version of its TV app was built from the ground up to deliver the same intuitive user experience as its iOS counterpart. This includes features like the ability to pick up where a user left off across all their devices and the option to download and stream content using cellular or Wi-Fi data.

To access content on the Apple TV app, users will need an Apple TV+ subscription, which provides access to exclusive web series and Apple original films like Severance, Slow Horses, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Wolves, The Instigators, The Family Plan, and more that no other content service offers. With an additional MLS Season Pass, users can also livestream Major League Soccer’s 2025 season.

Apple TV+, which made its debut in 2019, currently costs Rs 99 per month, which can be shared with up to five family members and users with Apple One subscription, which costs Rs 199 a month will also get access to Apple TV+. The platform offers content with up to 4K resolution and supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision on select content.
