Apple iOS 12.1 iPhone user guide out with Group FaceTime, camera app upgrades and more

iOS 12.1 will support all the same set of devices that were compatible with iOS 12.

Apple has released an updated version of its ‘iPhone user guide‘ on its support website, Apple Books and App Store with explanation of iOS 12.1 features like Group FaceTime and dual SIM card support. This was first reported by 9to5Mac.

The guide features details about other new features including the ability to adjust the depth of portrait pictures directly from the camera app, Group FaceTime with up to 32 people at once, and dual SIM card support for the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The company had previously announced Group FaceTime as a feature of iOS 12, however, it had to be delayed as it wasn’t ready for the initial public build of the operating system. All these features will go live when the update is rolled out globally to the public.

Apple is yet to reveal the rollout date for its public release of iOS 12.1. The company has been testing the operating system version since mid-September. Apple might reveal details regarding the rollout schedule for the same alongside the new iPad Pro and Mac’s during its October 30 event being held in New York.

iOS 12.1 will support all the same set of devices that were compatible with iOS 12 including iPhone 5s and later, the iPad Mini 2 and later, as well as the most recent iPod Touch. The update when out can be checked by the users in their Settings > General > Software update > Check for updates or manually by connecting their device to iTunes and performing the update.
