WhatsApp is getting a new feature that makes it easy to react to messages. Similar to Instagram and Facebook, the Meta owned instant messaging platform is rolling out a new functionality that allows users to react to messages with the heart emoji by simply double-tapping on it.

While this is really useful since users will no longer have to long press on a message to react with the heart emoji, if you want to react with the thumbs up or any other emoji’s, it can only be done using the previous method.

According to WABetaInfo, the double tap to react functionality is currently available to those on WhatsApp for Android 2.24.16.7 beta and will be coming to the stable channel sometime later. However, there seems to be no option to disable the behaviour, and it might end up being frustrating for users who might accidentally react to older message while going through their chat history.

As of now, there is no word if and when the double tap to react feature will be available to all WhatsApp users, so we might have to wait a while to know more.

In the last few weeks, WhatsApp has been working on a plethora of new features like the ability to reshare status updates with a dedicated button and a Nearby Share like functionality that will allow users to share files with one another without requiring an active internet connection to name a few.
