When Threads made its debut on the web this August, it was met with excitement from users. However, a crucial functionality was absent: the ability to quote posts. That’s changing now, as Instagram’s Head, Adam Mosseri, announced on Thursday that quote posts are finally available on the web version of Threads.

The addition of the quote feature brings Threads a step closer to rivalling X (formerly Twitter). It also bridges the gap between reposting and commenting.

To quote a post on Threads, follow these simple steps:

1. Scroll to the post you want to quote
2. Click on the two arrows icon.
4. A menu will appear, offering you the option to “quote” the post. Click on it.
5. You can now add your own comment or context to the quoted post.

In addition to this update, Mosseri also revealed that Threads users on mobile devices will soon be able to follow threads and receive notifications.

While Threads has made significant strides in improving its functionality, it still has a way to go to match the dynamic atmosphere that X/Twitter is renowned for. But things are changing with each small feature update.
