The Indian Space Research Organisation on Tuesday successfully test-fired the indigenous cryogenic engine CE-20 for 645 seconds. This significant development can push India into a bigger league of nations launching satellites weighing up to five tonnes. The event also marks a landmark in India's effort to develop a big cryogenic engine that can put GSLV Mark-III into geostationary orbit by the end of 2016. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO on this occasion. The engine tested today will enable us to put satellites of up to 4 tons in geostationary orbit. A proud accomplishment. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) April 28, 2015 Congratulations to our space scientists for the successful testing of our indigenous cryogenic engine. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) April 28, 2015
