Xiaomi Mi A2 is supposed to get Android 9 Pie update by the end of the year, and an unofficial beta download link has been spotted online, according to a report by XDA Developers. This was spotted through screenshots of the latest beta posted by Whyle, an XDA member. Mi A2 was launched earlier this year, and is an Android One device based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Mi A2’s Android 9 Pie beta link is available to download online, and according to the report this is an official one, but since Xiaomi has not yet announced the beta, it is not recommended that users download and install. With beta updates, there are always bugs and it is best to wait for the official Android Pie update from Xiaomi.
Mi A2 offers a stock Android experience, there is no presence of MIUI on Mi A2. Instead, users will be able to experience regular Android 9.0 Pie features like Adaptive Battery, navigation gestures, and a digital wellbeing app among others and a clean Android user interface. Xiaomi had promised that the Mi A2 would get Android Pie before the end of 2018.
Keep in mind this Android Pie beta version will not be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Instead, users who are interested will need to sideload the same and backup their data before doing so. As Xiaomi is testing Android Pie for a range of phones, it is likely that Mi A2 will receive the stable ROM update in the coming weeks.
Featuring a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display, Mi A2 comes with a screen resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor paired alongside the Adreno 512 GPU, and is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The device comes with 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB of internal storage with expandable memeory, and a 3010mAh battery.
