Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani, during AGM, said there are 5 major pillars of Reliance Jio services.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani addressed the Annual General Meeting of RIL today. He made several key announcements including Reliance Jio 4G data pack rates which start at Rs 50 for 1GB. Reliance Jio 4G services are free of cost till December 31, 2017 and users will be charged as per company’s data plans from next year. Also, all voice calls will be absolutely free for Jio customers forever. Additionally, there will be no roaming charges across India for Jio users. Ambani, during his speech said, there are 5 major pillars of Reliance Jio services:
• Network: RIL chairman said most service providers have infrastructure for voice, but not data. The company wants too tap in on this segment. “There is one language spoken on Jio, the language of the Internet: IP,” he said, adding that all IP design makes Jio the most extensive and future-proof in the world.
Reliance Jio will cover 90 per cent of India’s population by March 2017, Ambani said. He added that Reliance Jio is the largest only 4G network and VoLTE network in the world today. “We can transform India from a high price data market to one with the lowest data rates anywhere in the world,” Ambani said.
• Devices: According to Ambani, more 70 per cent of all smartphones in India are 4G LTE. He announced addition to its LYF smartphone series, which will start at Rs 2,999 and will go up to Rs 5,999. The Reliance Jio 4G LTE JioFi router costs Rs 1,999.

• Content: Mukesh Ambani made some important announcements regarding content for Jio TV and company’s apps. For starters, the Jio TV will give users an access to 300 plus channels. He sad that Jio Cinema will have a library of 6000 movies and about 1,00,000 episodes of TV shows. The Jio music library, on the other hand, will have 10 million songs. The Reliance Jio premium apps such as JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioDrive, JioSecurity and JioMoney will be free for all users till December 31, 2017. Jio Money will allow users to go cashless.
• Services: Reliance Jio is presenting its users with a redesigned sign-up process, which will roll out in Delhi and Mumbai today. The company plans to cover rest of India within six weeks. RIL aims at making on-boarding experience simpler and acquire a million users a day. The e-KYC solution will give users a working connection with Aadhar card in just 15 minutes.
• Tariffs: Ambani said the company has always put customers first. He added that Jio tariffs are built on three principles
1) Customer should play for only one service — voice or data.
2) Data must be affordable
3) Pricing structure should be simple so just 10 tariff plans. No blackout dates.
Mukesh Ambani says the company is offering 4G data packs at about 1/10th price as compared to other players in the market. Ambani calls the “cheapest in the world” and there will be just 10 tarrif plans to choose from.
