OnePlus 6T October 29 launch: OnePlus will launch its upcoming flagship phone, OnePlus 6T today. While the launch event was initially expected to take place on October 30, the Chinese smartphone maker was forced to change the date given Apple's iPad event slated for the same day. OnePlus is hosting its launch event in New York, that will kick off from 11 am local time, or 8.30 pm India time. Here's what one can expect from OnePlus 6T. OnePlus 6T global launch: Waterdrop notch over display, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection OnePlus 6T will sport a waterdrop notch over the display similar to the Oppo R17. This change in screen design will ensure thinner bezels and a higher screen-to-body ratio. OnePlus 6T will sport a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. A smaller notch compared to the OnePlus 6 will ensure more viewing space. Recent leaks have also indicated that the phone's screen could receive Gorilla Glass 6 protection. As per tipster Ishan Agarwal, OnePlus 6T could feature Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, making it the first smartphone with this. The company had confirmed a few weeks back that its upcoming flagship will come with a fingerprint scanner underneath the display. Speaking of the technology, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had explained in a blog post that the sensor will be light-based, and relies on the user's finger as light source. As the scanner attempts to unlock the phone, Lau said that the sensor analyses the structure of the fingerprint, as well as its size. Just 24 hours left! Teaser videos of the same promise swift unlocking of the phone, with the OnePlus 6T tag line being 'Unlock the Speed'. OnePlus 6T global launch: Android Pie, Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM OnePlus has been prompt about upgrading its software experience, and is among a few companies that have a UI based on Android Pie. The same is already up and running on OnePlus 6, launched in May this year. OnePlus 6T will run Android Pie out of the box, and the company has verified the same. Besides this, one will also see the OnePlus flagship run the Snapdragon 845 processor, that has been seen on Android flagships, including OnePlus 6. With the improved version of OxygenOS, Lau has added that OnePlus 6T will offer an 'improved UI experience'. While changes can be expected from features like screen-based gestures and digital wellbeing modes, one could bank on software improvements from OnePlus 6. OnePlus 6T will be available in three storage options: 6GB/8GB RAM, paired with 128GB/256GB internal memory. The previous OnePlus 6 offers 3400mAh of battery. OnePlus 6T is also slated to support DashCharge technology, that provides fast charging capabilities. However, OnePlus has confirmed that this flagship will not receive Wireless Charging support. OnePlus 6T global launch: Dual rear cameras, 20MP front camera There are minimal changes with respect to the camera functions of OnePlus 6T. While initial rumours did indicate that the OnePlus flagship would feature three cameras at the back, recent leaks have confirmed that the company will stick to the dual rear cameras. OnePlus 6T will also feature a 16MP primary camera and a 20MP secondary camera. This will be accompanied by an LED flash module. Recently, the company had shared camera samples clicked from OnePlus 6T to showcase improved low-light photography on the new phone. Rumours indicate that the front camera may get a boost, as OnePlus 6T is expected to feature a 20MP selfie camera. This compares to a 16MP camera spotted on OnePlus 6. In both cases, the front camera enables Face Unlock. OnePlus 6T lacks an audio input jack, indicating that the phone will support wireless headphones only. This is the first OnePlus phone to ditch the headphone jack. OnePlus flagship will be launched in India on October 30, which is tomorrow, and the phone will be an Amazon India exclusive. OnePlus 6T is expected to start from Rs 40,000, and will be available for sale from November 2.
