OnePlus is hosting its “Smooth Beyond Belief” launch event on January 27 in New Delhi, India, where, the company has confirmed to launch two new smartphones — OnePlus 12R and the OnePlus 12.
Just like most OnePlus launches, the company has already shared quite a lot regarding the features and capabilities of the upcoming smartphones, including their design, specifications, and camera capabilities. The company has also confirmed that, for the first time, OnePlus is taking the ‘R’ variant globally, which is likely to be more affordable than the full-blown flagship — OnePlus 12.
Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus 12.

The OnePlus 12 will retain the industrial design of the OnePlus 11 and the company has made some small but meaningful changes, including the shift of the alert slider from the right side to the left side. Besides, the OnePlus 12 could also be slightly on the thicker side, thanks to its slightly bigger battery (5,400 mAh).
Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 12 will offer the same premium-feeling glass sandwich design with a metal mid-frame. As the company has confirmed, the smartphone will be available in new colour variants, including green, silver, and black.
OnePlus has been marketing the Flowy Emerald variant, as it looks fresh and unique. On top of that, the circular camera island at the back also has shortened Hasselblad branding, and the camera module is also made to match the colour scheme of the back panel.
Another massive upgrade on the OnePlus 12 will be the USB-C port, which is now confirmed to support up to USB 3.2 data standard support. Besides, the OnePlus 12 is also reported to include an IP54 ingress protection rating, which still lags behind devices like the iPhone 15 and the Galaxy S23, which offers a much improved IP68 rating.

OnePlus has confirmed that the 12 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. As per the China variant of the OnePlus 12, the device will offer up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. However, as per multiple reports, the RAM could be limited to just 16 GB on the global variant, while the entry-level variant might get an upgrade from 8 GB to 12 GB. The smartphone is also confirmed to offer LPDDR5x-type RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
The smartphone is said to pack a large 6.82-inch 2K resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate, possibly protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Coming to the cameras, the OnePlus 12 is confirmed to include third-generation Hasselblad-tuned cameras and for the first time, the OnePlus 12 will include a periscope zoom lens, and the camera setup will be similar to the one found on the OnePlus Open.
The triple camera setup on the OnePlus 12 will be powered by a Sony 48MP LYT-808 wide-angle lens, 48MP Sony IMX481 ultra-wide angle lens, and a 64MP OV64B telephoto lens with support for 3x telephoto lens. OnePlus has finally upgraded the selfie camera, which now includes a 32 MP sensor with support for 4K video recording.
Lastly, the OnePlus 12 will ship with Android 14 with custom OxygenOS 14 skin on top, which is a bloatware-free version of ColorOS 14. Besides the bigger battery, the company is also bringing back fast wireless charging (at 50W) along with 100W fast charging via the USB-C port.
Finally, in terms of pricing, the OnePlus 12 is expected to be priced similarly to the OnePlus 11, and we could see the base variant of the OnePlus 12 to cost around Rs 60,000 in India.
The OnePlus 12R closely follows the OnePlus 12 in terms of design. This year around, the company seems to have done quite a bit of an upgrade by using a metal mid-frame, just like the OnePlus 12 with a curved glass sandwich design. On top of that, the OnePlus 12R is also expected to offer an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance rating.
The same goes for the camera island, which again looks similar to the one on the OnePlus 12 sans the Hasselblad branding.
