Apple iPad Mini could be getting an update, which has been neglected for years. According to reliable TF International Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, the Cupertino company is planning a sequel to the iPad Mini 4. Kuo says the tablet will feature an upgraded processor and a low-cost panel. There’s still some ambiguity over the release of the fifth-generation of iPad Mini – evidently, it could be released this year or early next year.

This is the first time we are hearing that Apple plans to launch a new model of iPad Mini. The iPad Mini was launched at a time when the iPhone still had a small display. However, since the launch of the iPhone 6 Plus, the relevance of the iPad Mini is questionable. So it comes as a surprise to learn that Apple is working on a sequel to the iPad Mini 4, which was launched way back in 2015.

According to Kuo’s latest research note, Apple could launch AirPods 2 and AirPower either in late 2018 or early in the first quarter of 2019. As for AirPods, we can expect Apple to release an unprovided version with a new wireless chip that enables “Hey Siri” feature. It’s also possible to see the debut of the AirPower, which was announced almost a year ago. Initially, Apple promised the AirPower to launch in 2018 but it reportedly got canned due to technical issues. The AirPower, a wireless charging mat, has the ability to charge the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods all at the same time.

As you’d expect, Kuo predicts that Apple is going to launch two new iPad Pro models at its October 30 event. Both are going to come with improved displays, USB Type-C, and an updated Apple Pencil with a “new design”. Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro models, likely to launch in 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes, are expected to feature edge-to-edge displays, Face ID, and no home button.

Kuo continues to expect a low-cost MacBook Air to make its debut, the one with a Retina Display and a sub-$1000 price, alongside with updates to the 12-inch MacBook, iMacs and a “pro” version of Mac Mini.

Apple is holding a high-profile launch event on October 30 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House in New York. The event starts at 10am ET in New York City, which is 7.30pm IST, and will be livestreamed on the Apple website.
