Last month, when Apple unveiled the latest iPad Pro, the company demonstrated how it can pack powerful hardware in a slim package. As it turns out, the tech giant may be planning to do the same to other products like the iPhone, MacBook Pro and the Apple Watch. This means the company could once again be focusing on its old design language of making devices slimmer.
With Apple offering the same battery life on the latest iPad Pro as previous generations, the company seems to have found a new way to cut the thickness without cutting corners. To give you a quick recap, the latest iPad Pro powered by the new M4 chip is just 5.1mm thick, which makes it the slimmest iPad Pro to date.
Now, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple is working on a “significantly thinner” phone which will most likely be the iPhone 17 lineup. Gurman also says that the Cupertino-based tech giant also plans to make other products like the MacBook Pro and the Apple Watch the thinnest and lightest products across the industry.
The news corroborates with earlier reports from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in late 2023 claimed that the tech giant will use a thinner motherboard technology in the high-end iPhone 17 series models. But since nothing is concrete at the moment, we advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt as things may change down the line.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumoured to get under-display Face ID scanners offering a near bezel-less look. The company is also considering increasing the screen size of the iPhone 17 lineup and introducing a new scratch-resistant anti-reflective screen. Other rumours include a 48MP telephoto camera and a 24MP selfie shooter. As for the upcoming iPhone lineup, speculations suggest the tech giant might use L-shaped cells but retain the overall design language of the current generation iPhones.
