Apple launches new MacBook Air with M3 chip, starts from Rs 1,14,900

The latest MacBook Air, powered by the M3 chip is available in 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes and can last up to 18 hours on a single charge.

Apple today unveiled the MacBook Air powered by the company’s in-house developed M3 chip. Compared to the M1 MacBook Air, Apple claims its latest lightweight laptops are “up to 60 per cent faster” and last up to 18 hours on a single charge.

It comes with a ‘Liquid Retina’ display that can go up to 500 nits of brightness. The M3 chip sports a 16-core Neural Engine which the company says can run optimised AI models that can perform real-time speech-to-text, text predictions, and translation.

The M3 chip houses an 8-core processor, a 10-core integrated GPU with ray-tracing and mesh shading and supports up to 24GB of unified memory.

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air are “less than half an inch thick”, support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, and come with a 1080p camera and three microphones. These laptops have a silent fanless design and support MagSafe charging.

Apple says the new models support two external displays when the laptop lid is closed. On the connectivity front, it has two Thunderbolt ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack and is available in four colours – midnight, starlight, space grey and silver.

The 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 starts from Rs 1,14,900 whereas the 15-inch MacBook Air can be purchased from Rs 1,34,900. Apple is also offering the MacBook Air with M2 at a discounted price of Rs 99,900.
