At 23, the Indian creator of the smart ring is the youngest to address Mobile World Congress

A 23-year-old CEO of a start-up firm in Kochi would be one of the speakers at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
Rohildev N is the founder of robotics startup RHL Vision Technologies, one of the firms incubated at Kochi-based Startup Village, the technology incubator promoted by government and private players.

RHL Vision’s product ‘Fin’, a smart ring that can turn one’s palm into a gesture interface to control multiple devices, has already evoked keen interest in the industry.

Fin is a Bluetooth-enabled ring that could be worn on fingers, converting the whole palm into a numeric keypad or gesture interface to interact with appliances such as TV. The gadget would have three in-built sensors beaming signals into a TV loaded with the software developed by RHL Vision.

The prototype of the produce has shown around 100 metre range between it and an appliance. Instead of using a remote control, a TV could be operated using ‘fin’, which is yet to reach the market. The company has also started a campaign to take the product into market and to find investors.

As many as 4,300 CEOs would attend the Mobile Congress. Rohildev would speak on ‘emerging markets and next wave of digital entrepreneurs’ at the conference village on February 27. The official website of the Mobile Congress has given a brief sketch about Rohildev, who will be the youngest speaker at the conference.

“It’s a big moment for the Team RHL Vision. I hope that the invitation to address the world-class event is also in recognition of the tremendous interest that Fin could generate in the global startup scenario,” said Rohildev.

RHL was one of the top 15 companies at the TechCrunch CES Hardware Battlefield in Las Vegas and the only Indian startup to be selected for the Pioneers Festival, a prominent startup festival in Austria. It was also the second runner-up at the Microsoft BizSpark India StartUp Challenge 2013.
