WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature which will let users create AI-generated photos of themselves. Dubbed ‘Imagine Me’, the functionality recently made an appearance on the beta version of the app.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, the new Meta AI-powered feature is currently under development, but a leaked screenshot indicates that users will be required to upload pictures when they opt into the optional feature. Once users feed it enough images, they will be able to ask Meta AI to generate an AI picture of themselves by simply typing “Imagine me” when talking to the recently launched Meta AI chatbot (review).

The report states that users will also be able to use the functionality when talking to others using the “@Meta AI imagine me” command. Since this is an opt-in functionality, users will need to manually opt-in to use the ‘Imagine me’ feature.

Since the command is processed independently, Meta AI won’t likely be able to read the contents of your conversation. However, the image will be automatically shared in the chat. Also, users will have full control over the feature and they will be able to delete all their setup photos at any time from Meta AI settings.

The publication also spotted that WhatsApp is working on another functionality that will allow users to switch between Llama 3-405B and the more powerful Llama 3-70B.

In the last few months, WhatsApp has been rolling out several new features like the ability to set minute-long voice messages as status, redesigned voice call UI and the ability to share screen and audio on iPhone during video calls to name a few.
