A few months after the global rollout, Meta, on Monday, announced the launch of Meta AI, powered by Llama 3, the company’s most advanced large language model (LLM), in India. Meta platform users across the country can now access Meta AI in feed, chats, and other places across the platforms for free. Additionally, users can directly access the AI chatbot on the web via meta.ai.
Initially, Meta AI will be available in English. According to the company, users can benefit from the new AI tool on the apps they are already using. The company states, “Meta AI is smarter, faster, and more fun than ever before,” and it is powered by Llama 3.
The new text-based experiences on Meta AI are based on Llama 2, while the image generation tools are powered by the latest Llama 3.
To access Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, users need to update to the latest versions of these apps.
Meta has implemented its AI uniquely on each of these platforms. On WhatsApp, users can ask for recommendations for a specific activity or even ask for a plan for the upcoming road trip. Similarly, on the web, Meta AI can help create a multiple choice test or it can also help you decorate a new place that you just moved into.
On Facebook, Meta AI will be available within the feed, allowing users to ask questions about a specific post for more insights. Similarly, the Meta AI can also be used to generate images, and WhatsApp stickers, or also ask Meta AI to retouch an already existing image.
Meta highlights that its AI tool has been built responsibly. The model has been trained with specific instructions to ensure it provides helpful and safe responses within its guidelines.
