In an order dated December 10, the court said, “..both the accused persons namely Vikas Gulia alias Vikas Lagarpuria and Dhirpal alias Kana are convicted under Section 3 of MCOCA.
Notorious gangster Vikas Lagarpuria and his associate Dhirpal have been convicted under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) act for running an organised crime syndicate– nearly a decade after they were first booked for the same. The judgment was announced on Wednesday by Additional Sessions Judge Vandana Jain in Dwarka court.
In an order dated December 10, the court said, “..both the accused persons namely Vikas Gulia alias Vikas Lagarpuria and Dhirpal alias Kana are convicted under Section 3 of MCOCA.
However, the court acquitted the duo under Section 4 (punishment for possessing unaccountable wealth on behalf of a member of an organised crime syndicate) of MCOCA.
Lagarpuria, known as the leader of the Vikas Lagarpuria gang, is involved in as many as 18 criminal cases including that of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery, house trespass, and criminal intimidation etc registered at various police stations at Delhi and Haryana.
The first case against him was lodged in 2012 at Chawla police station. The same year, Vikas was booked under Section 3 (punishment for organised crime) of MCOCA at Nazafgarh police station.
Lagarpuria was arrested by the Delhi Police in 2022, after absconding for years in Dubai. Langapuriya was also involved in the 2021 Rs 30 crore heist at the offices of Alpha G Corp Management Services in Sector 84 in Gurgaon. He is currently lodged in Mandoli jail while Dhirpal stays in Rohini jail.
