ChatGPT is an AI-chatbot that can answer questions about almost anything and analyse files and photos. (Express Photo)OpenAI recently announced that its ChatGPT app for Windows is now available for download from the Microsoft Store. Similar to the Mac version, which the company unveiled earlier this year, ChatGPT for Windows lets you quickly access the AI-powered chatbot, allowing users to leverage the power of AI while doing other tasks.
In a blog post, OpenAI said it should be noted “that a subset of features available in the macOS and web version may not be available on this early v version” and that these missing features will be available when the app is available for the general public.
For those wondering, some features missing from the newly launched ChatGPT app for Windows include standard and advanced voice modes, the ability to connect Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive to set up Context Connectors and 3rd party authentication mechanism in GPT Builder. However, you can upload files and photos to ChatGPT and analyse them using the newly launched o1 model.

If you have the ChatGPT app open on Windows, you can use the “Alt + Space” keyboard shortcut to bring the app to focus, which is really useful if you have multiple apps open in the background and want to use the AI chatbot. OpenAI says ChatGPT for Windows “remembers the last position it was in” and that the app resets to the bottom center of the screen when you open it again.
The ChatGPT app for Windows is currently in early stages and limited to Plus, Team, Enterprise and Edu subscribers, but we expect OpenAI to roll it out to those on the free tier in the coming weeks or months.
