Apple’s most-anticipated launch event of the year, ‘It’s Show Time,’ is just a few hours away. The Cupertino-based tech giant will introduce a new set of iPhones with Apple Intelligence. The best part about owning an Apple device is that some of the new features will also be coming to select existing models.
Apple Intelligence introduces new generative AI capabilities to your existing Apple devices powered by the on-device neural processing unit (NPU) or the company’s private cloud computing.
Some of the highlights of Apple Intelligence include new text writing and editing tools, which can help enhance language, rewrite, and proofread. It also includes tools such as Genmoji and Image Playground, which use text-to-image generative AI capabilities. Lastly, the new and improved Siri, powered by ChatGPT, can offer personalized and human-like responses for text and voice-based inputs.
Only two iPhone models are eligible for Apple Intelligence — iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, powered by the A17 Pro chip. The iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus will miss out on the same, as they are based on the older A16 chip, which also powers the iPhone 14 Pro series. Users who already have an iPhone 15 Pro or the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to experience Apple Intelligence after the iOS 18.1 update, which is expected to arrive by the end of 2024.

Apple Intelligence is coming to multiple models of iPad Air and iPad Pro variants, powered by the M1, M2, or M3 chip. The list of eligible iPads for the Apple Intelligence update includes the fifth-generation iPad Air powered by the M1 chip and the sixth-generation iPad Air with the M2 chip. Similarly, the update will also be coming to the iPad Pro lineup, powered by the M1, M2, and the M3 chip. Again, just like iPhones, eligible iPads will gain Apple Intelligence with the iPadOS 18.1 update, which will be available later this year.

This includes the very first Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro 13-inch powered by the M1 chip. The update will also be coming to all the variants of the Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro powered by the Apple Silicon M1, M2, or M3 chip.
