Amazon Web Services (AWS), on Friday, announced that seven generative AI startups from India have been selected for its AWS Global Generative Artificial Intelligence Accelerator Programme. The selected Indian companies are Convrse, Neural Garage, House of Models, Orbo.ai, Unscript AI, Zocket, and Phot.ai. These Indian startups are among the 80 companies that AWS selected from around the world for innovative use of AI.
India also has the highest number of startups selected from a country in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region for the programme. These startups will be invited to AWS’s premier annual event in Las Vegas, where they will demonstrate their solutions to the world.
“The selected startups are at the forefront of tapping into the transformative potential of generative AI to build innovative solutions,” said Amitabh Nagpal, head, startup business development, at AWS India.
While Convrs, House of Models, and Zocket are from the IT sector, Neural Garage is from the media and entertainment industry, and Orb.ai from the retail sector. Both Phot.ai and Unscript AI are from the marketing and advertising industry.
The AWS Generative AI Accelerator Programme, as part of the tech giant’s $230 million commitment to foster AI innovations from around the world, offers early-stage companies AWS credits, mentorship, and education to further their use of AI and machine learning (ML) technologies. The selected Indian startups will be getting access to AWS compute, storage, and database technologies, AWS’s energy-efficient chips – AWS Trainium – and AWS Inferentia 2 at low cost. The companies can also use the AWS credits to use Amazon SageMaker, a cloud-based machine learning platform that helps companies build and train their foundation models.
AWS Generative AI Accelerator is a 10-week programme that lets participants match with both business and technical mentors based on their industry. The startups that get chosen will receive up to $1 million each in AWS credits to help them build, train, test, and launch their generative AI solutions. Participants will also get access to technology and technical sessions from program presenting partner NVIDIA.
