6 unique features of Galaxy AI and the list of compatible Samsung smartphones

I have been using AI on the Galaxy S23 for over six months, and here are my top six Galaxy AI features that can help you save time, enhance productivity, and can also help you bring your creativity to life.

Google Circle to Search

Developed by Google, this is the most used AI feature on my smartphone. In fact, it was recently updated to include more features such as translation and can also identify a song playing in the background, similar to Shazam. Circle to Search makes finding a product that you might spot on Instagram or any other social media platform a lot easier, and you can also use it to learn about specific places by simply circling around them. This feature is now available on more smartphones than ever as a part of the Android 15 update, and you don’t even need a Samsung smartphone to use it.

Translate calls instantly and automatically

This is another highly practical capability of Samsung’s Galaxy AI, where it can translate an audio call in real-time. Called Call Assist, this feature not only works on the Samsung Phone app but also on select third-party apps like Google Meet, Signal, WeChat, Kakaotalk, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, LINE, WhatsApp, and Telegram. This Galaxy AI feature makes conversing in a foreign language a lot easier.

Extend, remove, or add an object to a photo

The photo-editing capabilities of Galaxy AI are as impressive as it gets. You can extend a photo using generative fill, remove a subject from a photo, or even add a new subject to a photo. All these features can be accessed from the Photo Assist within the Gallery app. Again, some of these features can be accessed on Google Photos on any smartphone, but the comprehensive set of AI image- editing capabilities of Galaxy AI makes it a bit advanced.

Summarise big documents into bite-sized information

Galaxy AI also helps you save time with its Notes app, which can easily summarise big documents into bite-sized information in just a few seconds. Again, this feature comes in handy for those who need to analyse and summarise documents on a daily basis. Besides summarisation, the Notes app can also translate the content of the document from one language to another.

Transcript audio into text

With the Galaxy AI, you don’t need to pay for a transcription service to convert audio recordings into text. The native voice recorder app on eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphones can automatically detect the language and transcribe the audio into text and the text can be further summarised. It’s definitely a handy tool for journalists or anyone else who tends to record audio and transcribe it to text manually.

Convert sketches into images

This recently introduced Galaxy AI feature can bring your creativity to life by transforming simple sketches into modern art forms. To sketch an image of “a house amid the forest with a few trees at the front”, all you have to do is draw a basic line version of it, and Samsung will quickly generate a high-quality image that matches your imagination.

These are the top six Galaxy AI capabilities that I use on a day-to-day basis. While these stand out, Samsung smartphones have more AI features, such as a browsing assist and a chat assist.
