Apple is widely rumoured to introduce iPhone 7 with an updated A10 processor next month. While we have only seen design changes coming with the product, a new leak reveals what A10 chipset might look like.
Apple iPhone 6s is powered by A9 processor and its natural for the next processor to bear the A10 name. Apple generally introduces a new processor lineup with iPhone and an X variant of the same processor follows the iPad range. The recent iPad range – which includes 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 9.7-inch iPad Pro – are powered by Apple’s A9X chipset.
The images of A10 chipset posted on Chinese social network Weibo reveal the die of the new processor along with design of the logic board. The leak doesn’t reveal any details about the new processor but Apple CEO Tim Cook already hinted at the iPhone will be very compelling in terms of performance.
Apple is likely to launch three new iPhones at its special event in September (rumoured to be held on September 7) with redesigned antenna layout, a protruding ring to protect the camera lens and a new home button with support for haptic feedback.
Apple is likely to follow the leads of LeEco, Motorola and drop the 3.5mm headphone jack and is reportedly working on lightning connected headphones. Earlier we saw renders of lightning connector based Apple earpods leak on China’s Weibo platform.
Apple’s iPhone 7 is likely to feature just cosmetic changes, while the Cupertino based company prepares big design changes for 2018. Apple iPhone 7 is also reported to come in a Pro model with dual rear camera setup. While some reports indicate Apple’s plans to introduce dual rear camera based smartphone, it is unclear how the dual camera setup will work.

A leaked Geekbench listing revealed A10 processor’s single core benchmark score of 3000, which puts it right in the league of A9X processor powering iPad Pro. Apple’s A9X is the most powerful processor ever packed into a mobile device and it is likely that iPhone 7 will be the most powerful smartphone when it launches next month.
Apple is also likely to introduce a new space black colour variant this time. Last year, Apple introduced Rose Gold as a new colour option and it immediately turned into a rage among iPhone buyers. This time around, it could be time to go completely black with iPhone 7.
