Australian allrounder Cameron Green who was bought by the Mumbai Indians for a whopping 17.50 crore in the mini auction in December said that he could not wait to play in the jampacked Wankhede Stadium during the Indian Premier League.

“The ground’s pretty special, I’m lucky enough to play here. It’s a cool ground to be around with all the blues here. Yeah, can’t wait to see when its packed,” Green said in a video released by the MI Twitter handle.

Green recently came back from an injury to play in the 3rd and 4th Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India as well as the recently concluded 3-match ODI series. He scored his maiden Test hundred in the 4th Test but failed to create an impact in the ODIs.

The Mumbai Indians will be hoping that Green can add much needed flair in their already deep batting lineup and with Rohit Sharma reportedly opting to sit out a few games in the IPL this season in order to manage his workload for the upcoming ODI World Cup and World Test Championships final, Green’s importance in the team will become manifold.

Dewald Brevis, Tilak Verma will all be playing their second season but for Green with a multi-million dollar deal, IPL will be a different beast altogether.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on them (youngsters) right now. Closer to our first game, we will give them that specific roles. Obviously leading up that first game, guys pretty much know what we are expecting from them,” Rohit said in a press conference on Wednesday.

“But the last thing I will do is put too much pressure on them, especially the guys who have not played IPL before and there are a few,” he added.
