WI vs IND 2nd T20I tip-off: (Left)Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal and Umran Malik is likely to be in the playing XI. (AP | Express File Photos) West Indies vs India 2nd T20I tip-off XI: A boundary was the difference between the two teams in the opening game in Tarouba where West Indies prevailed on a slow batting track with an impressive bowling effort at the back-end.
Given India’s longer tail, India might be prompted to play an extra batter and in that case, there will be a toss-up between in-form duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
This T20 series against the West Indies gives India the best chance to check out their shortest format options as it would become important next year with the World Cup being held in the Americas (West Indies and United States).
Here’s a few tip-off ahead of the match
Jaiswal to bat at 3
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made an impressive test debut last month might make his first appearance in the game’s shortest format. Jaiswal has had an emphatic IPL with Rajasthan Royals. The southpaw has hammered 625 runs, including one century and five fities. If he gets his cap, the youngster might have to bat at No 3.
Kuldeep or Chahal
In the last match, captain Hardik Pandya has said that he wanted Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav to play together. But given India’s long tail, the team managemen might play an extra batter and in that case between Chahal and Kuldeep, one had to sit out.
Umran for Mukesh
Mukesh Kumar – playing his first matches for the country in all three formats in under a fortnight, also did his job well, bowling two of his three overs at the death and going for 24 runs overall. But the Guyana track has always been low and slow and in that case to get some more pace India will be temoted to play Umran Malik in the second T20I.
Pitch condition
Providence used to be a nightmare for batters but it has improved markedly over the last 10 completed games. More than 160 has been reached seven times in first-innings. Two of the last five T20Is at Providence Stadium in Guyana have been washed out. The scores batting first in the three completed games were 146, 157 and 163, with the chasing team winning twice.
