Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) has won the best technology innovation award comprising of Rs 2 lakh cash in the recently held national level BAJA SAE competition. 80 colleges had participated in the competition.
VIT secured overall 8 th rank, but its team HAWK 1.0 comprised of 22 students bagged the award of The Best Technology Innovation for the year 2010.
The team had incorporated the concept of a leaning vehicle.
This technology enables the vehicle to combine the dynamics of a two-wheeler with the stability of a four-wheeler. The vehicle can lean inside a turn similar to a two-wheeler vehicle while negotiating the turn while still maintaining the stability on the four wheels.
It allows the vehicle to negotiate corners at a higher speed compared to a non-leaning four-wheel vehicle. This improves the vehicle dynamics characteristics and helps vehicle to cut lap timing during the race. This type of vehicle can also reduce the chances of accidents during the race because of improved dynamics.
