Security in and around women’s hostels in Delhi to be upgraded: Sheila

Dikshit said transport facility should be made available to all women residing at hostels.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday stressed on the need for upgrading security in and around women’s hostels in the national capital.

Inaugurating a working Women’s Hostel at Rohini,she said transport facility should be made available to all women residing at hostels and they all be made aware about the women-in-distress helpline number 181.

She further said her government was formulating plans for welfare of all vulnerable sections and had earmarked 65 per cent of its plan allocation for social sector.

The hostel at Rohini can accommodate 120 women with a crèche facility for 30 children. The building has been constructed over an area of 2700 sq yards. The hostel has been provided with R O plant for safe drinking water along with reading room having wi-fi facility.

The Department of Women and Child Development has commissioned the second Working Women’s Hostel.
