Welcoming Union Home Minister Chidambaram’s statements on the Telangana issue,TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said all stakeholders should now cooperate to facilitate the formation of a separate state.
“… The Centre made a clear statement on Thursday. We welcome this. This is a new year gift to the Telangana people,” he told reporters here.
Dismissing the charge of “flip-flop” on the part of Centre on Telangana issue,Chidambaram said in Delhi that the January 5 meeting of political parties from Andhra Pradesh is to devise a “mechanism and roadmap” on resolving the problem.
Rao claimed that majority opinion among the eight political parties invited by Centre for the meeting is in favour of a separate Telangana.
“Congress said its stand is clear and that it was mentioned in their manifesto. It also sought the cooperation of other parties. So any leader with wisdom should cooperate and help in bringing the issue to its logical conclusion.
“We have majority among eight parties. BJP is ready,CPI is ready,Congress has clarified its stand,TDP said it will stick to its stand,TRS is born for Telangana state. MIM has kept its decision pending. Whatever is the opinion of CPI(M),majority is in favour of Telangana,” Rao said.
So “one and all” should help in forming the new state, the TRS president said.
“After all,we will be neighbours after the formation of the new state. Wisdom is that we live with self-respect and like friends,” he said.
