Accusing the Jammu and Kashmir government of failing on the law and order front,PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday denied charges levelled by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah against her party of encouraging stone-pelters following the death of an infant.

Law and order has failed and such incidents are occurring daily,Mufti told reporters after staging a walkout from legislative assembly.

Mufti’s comments came a day after Abdullah accused main opposition PDP of encouraging stone-pelters following the death of an 11-day-old baby in Baramulla district in stone-pelting on a minibus.

The PDP chief claimed the miscreants were travelling in two Tata Sumos and were instrumental in the killing of the infant.

Asking the government “where is the law and order”,the former JK chief minister blamed the Abdullah government for the recent death of youths in the state.

“What is the government doing. Where is the law and order agencies. Where is the governance seen in the state,” she asked, alleging that government has failed to stop such incidents as it has no policy and agenda of governance.

She said the government is levelling charges against the opposition to divert people’s attention from its failures.
