Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday pleaded innocence about a party leader wanted in a murder case sharing the dais with him at Gaya and claimed that it was an example of good governance that the man was arrested immediately.
“How can I know background of everybody sharing dais with me during an election rally?” he told reporters about Javed Khan, a former councillor of Gaya Municipality, against whom an arrest warrant was pending since December, sharing the dais with him in Gaya on Friday.
“But the moment it came to our notice about an arrest warrant by a court against him, the government acted promptly to get him arrested. Isn’t this an example of good governance?” he asked.
Without naming BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi, he asked “What about those who are distributing party symbols despite facing trial in cases?”
He said that state JD(U) chief would inquire and and take action how such a person was appointed to a party post in the district.
