Karnataka: 5 disqualified Independent MLAs file fresh petition in HC

The five disqualified Independent MLAs filed a fresh petition before the Karnataka HC.

The five disqualified Independent MLAs on Wednesday filed a fresh petition before the Karnataka High Court,challenging the order of Speaker K G Bopaiah on a petition filed by some voters from their Assembly constituencies.

On October 9,some voters from the Assembly constituencies of these MLAs had filed a complaint before Bopaiah,on the basis of which the Speaker disqualified them the next day.

This petition will be heard by a new division Bench on November 2 along with another one filed by these MLAs challenging the Speaker’s order,disqualifying them on the basis of a petition filed before Bopaiah by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

On Oct 18,a division Bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar had stated that the petition filed by the five independent MLAs will be heard by a new division bench on November 2.
