Honey Singh to woo voters for Parvesh Verma

Verma is seen as a Jat leader who needs to shed his image to win over Punjabi voters.

The BJP has decided to rope in singer Yo Yo Honey Singh in an attempt to woo voters in the national capital.

The singer, who has in the past been at the centre of a controversy for his songs, is set to perform in West Delhi. Senior BJP leaders, in charge of West Delhi candidate Parvesh Verma’s campaigning, confirmed the development. The date is yet to be decided though.

With majority of the party’s top leaders busy with their own campaigning, the Delhi BJP is banking on star power to woo voters. The singer and composer will be performing in areas where the majority population is Punjabi and Sikh.

Verma is seen as a Jat leader who needs to shed his image to win over Punjabi voters and many senior leaders in the party say roping in Honey Singh is a strategic move.

It seems the Delhi BJP has thrown its weight behind its West Delhi candidate with personalities like Honey Singh, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Navjot Singh Sidhu lining up to campaign in the constituency.

“We do not want to lose a few pockets because of factors such as they were not well represented in the run-up to the polls. We can assure that this time we are leaving no stone unturned in all the constituencies,” a party leader claimed.

The BJP is also trying to rope in Shatrughan Sinha for campaigning. Sinha has promised to campaign in the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency for Harsh Vardhan on April 6.
