Former Haryana minister of state for Home Gopal Goyal Kanda has withdrawn support to the Congress government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda. He will announce his new political party on May 2 at a public meeting in Gurgaon. Kanda met Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia on Wednesday and handed him the letter of withdrawal of support. Talking to mediapersons, Kanda said that Hooda did not fulfill the promises made to him and alleged that his government was tapping the phones of all the ministers. He claimed he had evidence of phone tapping. Kanda supported the Hooda government when it fell short of a majority after the 2009 elections. He was known for his proximity to the chief minister. He had to quit after his name cropped up in the Geetika Sharma suicide case and his subsequent arrest. The Haryana Home Department refuted the allegations levelled by Kanda, saying that no attempt had been made to tap the phones of ministers. A spokesman said that phone tapping is done only in cases where a person is found to be involved in any heinous crime or there is any threat to law and order.
