4 MLAs dropped as Congress releases final Chhattisgarh Assembly poll list of 7 candidates

Among the seven named, sitting MLA Ambica Singh Deo has retained her Baikhuntpur seat in Korea district and MLA Kuldeep Juneja, from the Raipur city north seat, has been retained.

The Congress on Sunday declared its third and final list of the remaining seven MLA candidates for the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections in which four more MLAs have lost their tickets and a total of 22 MLAs losing their tickets of the total 90 Assembly seats.

Among the seven named, sitting MLA Ambica Singh Deo has retained her Baikhuntpur seat in Korea district and MLA Kuldeep Juneja, from the Raipur city north seat, has been retained.

The four who lost tickets were Saraipali MLA Kismat Lal Nand in Mahasamund district who has been replaced by Chaturi Nand, a local SC leader. MLA Vinod Chandrakar from Mahasamund was replaced by Rashmi Chandrakar, the party’s district head. In Baloda Bazar district’s Kasdol, MLA Shakuntala Sahu lost her seat to Sandeep Sahu, a youth leader. In Dhamtari district’s Sihawa (ST seat) MLA Lakshmi Dhruw lost her ticket to Ambika Markam, an MLA in 2008.

In Dhamtari seat, Congress has fielded a new face, Omkar Sahu. “The 22 MLAs lost their tickets based on feedback of Congress workers. The ticket distribution reflects the inclusiveness stand of our party where all communities have been represented,” said party spokesperson Vikas Bajaj.

Four more women have been given tickets in the final list, taking the total tally of women candidates to 22.
