Congress moves EC against Azmi remarks

Azmi had also reportedly said that a DNA test should be conducted on a Muslim who does not vote for SP as he could be an RSS man.

The Congress Friday approached the Election Commission, demanding action against SP leader Abu Azmi for his remarks that Muslims who do not vote for his party are not “true Muslims”.

Azmi had also reportedly said that a DNA test should be conducted on a Muslim who does not vote for SP as he could be an RSS man.  “In a country like ours, which has been founded on the principles of secularism… such statement by Abu Azmi is totally deplorable and condemnable, apart from being against the unity and integrity of India. The RSS is well-known for its divisive activities, but such a statement made by him further promotes enmity between communities, castes and religion,” the Congress said, demanding that the Election Commission take serious note of Azmi’s statement and take immediate action against him.

“Such activities should be curbed and dealt with strongly to preserve the unity and integrity of India,” it said.
