Hardik Patel hints at support for Nitish Kumar in Bihar polls

“He is from our community….We have to support someone in the (assembly elections)…..We will support someone from our community,” said Patel, when asked his stance on extending support to the Bihar CM.

The Kurmi Vikas Morcha is hoping that Patel would bring their demand of inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list under his umbrella of demands. “I am here to show my solidarity with the Kurmi community,” said Patel, who is not scheduled to speak in Ranchi.

He travelled to Jamshedpur, where KVM leaders hope to present him before a crowd at a Karma festival fair. Patel is expected to travel to West Bengal’s Purnia, where KVM leaders claimed he would address a large gathering of Kurmis.

Patel happened to arrive in Ranchi on a day when the city was besieged by violence due to a bandh called by the VHP: he was holed up in the airport terminal, awaiting security cover, for about 45 minutes. Later, his convoy was pelted with stones in the city’s Hatia locality, but none was injured.
