
The Intelligence Bureau is believed to have alerted the Delhi administration and the Home Minister that two major groups of extremists from Punjab have shifted their centre of activities to the capital with a view of indulging in violence and causing panic.
Property Damage Fear
A Sri Lanka government spokesman sought to allay fears that the latest emergency regulations promulgated by the government to take over all property affected by the recent riots on the island would lead to an arbitrary expropriation of private property. The government had recently announced the setting up of a body, the Rehabilitation of Property and Industrial Authority “for attending to the damage wrought by the riots”.
Aseer Replaced
S M I Aseer has been replaced by N M Kamble as Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (I) chief in a surprise move by the party president, Mrs Indira Gandhi. Aseer has resigned, G K Moopanar, All India Congress Committee (I) general secretary in charge of Maharashtra affairs, told newsmen in New Delhi yesterday.

There may have been as many as a dozen men involved in the dacoity in Defence Colony in the early hours of August 7, residents of the area suspect. One group of men entered the houses, another group waited to take away the stolen goods from the back lane and other men kept vigil elsewhere, it is reported. They dispersed in different directions afterwards, the police believe.
