(File) The Tripura government has taken a host of initiatives to make the two-day G20 conclave titled “Clean Energy for a Green Future”, scheduled to be held from April 3, a success.
The venue, the Hapania International Fair Ground, is barely 4 km from Agartala. G20 delegates will reach the state on Sunday and attend a dinner at the governor’s residence. Chief Minister Manik Saha will meet them at the state guesthouse. The delegates are expected to visit the Albert Ekka Park, Purbasha, Oxygen Park in West district, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary and Neermahal Palace in Sepahijala district.
“Eighty-five to ninety delegates are participating in the event from various countries. Ex-secretary of Government of India Asutosh Sarma will be the chair,” said Abhishek Chandra, special secretary of industries and commerce.

The park was inaugurated in 2018 to pay tribute to Lance Naik Albert Ekka of the Army’s 14 Guard’s Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice fighting Pakistani forces at the Gangasagar railway station in East Pakistan (currently Bangladesh), opposite to the Indo-Bangla border at Akhaura, less than 1 km from Agartala.
On the preparations at Neermahal, one of the two Indian palaces situated on waterbodies, an official said, “Ramps have been made using the traditional saal wood at Neermahal.”
G20 nations account for 85 per cent of the world’s gross domestic product, 75 per cent of world trade and three fourths of the world population.
