BJP MLA Th Radheshyam quits as Manipur CM Biren Singh’s advisor

Radheshyam expresses dissatisfaction over the government’s functioning and calls for making public details of all land transactions from the past six years.

Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, BJP MLA from Manipur’s Heirok constituency, resigned as advisor to Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday, stating that he was neither given any responsibility nor consulted since his appointment.

In a video posted on Facebook, Radheshyam expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s functioning. He appealed to all politicians to regain the public’s trust. “People have lost their faith in politicians because many of them are busy doing lip service. This trend has become very embarrassing for those who are committed to working for the people,” said Radheshyam, a former IPS officer.

In his resignation letter sent to the chief minister, the BJP MLA expressed his desire to focus on the 2024 Lok Sabha election and on development in his constituency. He also wrote that he was resigning on moral grounds for his failure to focus on development work and disburse pensions for elderly people.

The MLA suggested in the video that details of all land transactions made in the past six years should be put in the public domain. He also disclosed names of people whom he alleged to have twisted officials’ arms to convert land usage or land class.
