White House says Musk is ‘special government employee’

A White House spokesperson said that Musk has abided by all applicable federal laws.

Billionaire Elon Musk, a key Trump ally, is considered a “special government employee,” White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday.

Leavitt, speaking at the White House, said she could not provide any details about what, if any, security clearance Musk had, but said Musk has abided by all applicable federal laws.
