PUNE, MARCH 22: Satish Zende of Ahmednagar won the the Pune Ahmednagar Pune cycle race, held in two phases, organised by the Eklavya Krida Prathisthan and conducted by the Maharashtra Cycling Association on March 20 and 21.

Satish Zende from a family of reputed cyclists, maintained a winning distance of 12 kilometres at the finish, and in the process created a new record (Ahmednagar-Pune) covering a distance of 120 kilometers in 2 hours 55 minutes. Pune lads Pradeep Shingte and Sanjay Maral grabbed second and third spot respectively in a neck-and-neck finish, with barely a second separating the duo.

The first leg of the race was won by yet another Ahmednagar lad, Sanjay Sathe. He covered the grueling stage in 3 hours 38 minutes 10 seconds. Zende finished at third spot along with team mate Sanjay Londhe. The Ahmednagar trio have been representing the Ambika Cycling Club.

Zende now aims for the top spot in the forthcoming Mumbai-Pune cycle race on April 4.
