CHANDIGARH, AUG 23: After deciding that all pending cases of oustees from the city be considered for allotment of Chandigarh Housing Board flats as per the 1996 scheme, the UT Administration has ordered an inquiry to find out who was responsible for wrong allotment of plots to certain oustees who were not applicants for land acquired for development of Phase III sectors.
This decision was taken at a meeting of UT officers under the charge of Finance Secretary Rakesh Singh.
Finance Secretary disclosed that the inquiry would be conducted by CHB Chief Executive Officer Mahavir Singh, who will find out who were the officers and others responsible for such wrong allotments.
According to sources, at least 63 cases of wrong allotment of plots to oustees had come to the notice of the administration, who were allotted plots under the 1972 scheme for oustees, though they had not applied for the land acquired for development of Phase III sectors.
Sources say that the land of such oustees in Maja Kajheri and Nizampur Kumbra villages was acquired by the administration in 1983 for installation of a 66 KV Grid Station in Sector 52. Such allottees had later gone to the High Court, which had confirmed their allotment and had directed for treating them uniformly. The HC had also imposed fines on certain individuals for wrong allotment.
The administration has also decided to drop all proceedings against these 63 cases of wrong allotment. However, the administration has decided to move the apex court by filing a special leave petition on the cost factor, along with filing a plea for delay condonation. The administration is also moving against the fine imposed.
For the remaining 181 applications of oustees pending before the Estate Officer for allotment of land, the administration decided to deal such cases under the 1996 scheme of oustees for allotment of CHB flats.
