LONDON: Cricketers could risk serious injury because some top brands of helmets are not giving players enough protection, The New Scientist magazine has said.

The Dream Team has five South Africans, two Pakistanis, one each from India, Zimbabwe, Australia and New Zealand.

The team: Steve Waugh captain, Australia, Herschelle Gibbs South Africa, Neil Johnson Zimbabwe, Rahul Dravid India, Jacques Kallis South Africa, Jonty Rhodes South Africa, Moin Khan wicketkeeper, Pakistan, Lance Klusener South Africa, Saqlain Mushtaq Pakistan, Allan Donald South Africa, Geoff Allott New Zealand

Sharif changes plans

ISLAMABAD: Thousands of fans set off firecrackers and fired Kalashnikov rifles as they thronged the streets of Islamabad and Karachi singing and firing into the air to celebrate Pakistan8217;s nine-wicket win over New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final yesterday.

But official news agency APP said that plans for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif totravel to England for Sunday8217;s final has been shelved. A spokesman for the Prime Minister8217;s office said Mr Sharif8217;s plans has been changed 8220;due to the prevailing situation in the borders8221;.
