CHANDIGARH, Aug 20: The three-day long Regional Workshop of Key Trainers on Surveillance of Sexually Transmitted Diseases for Northern states concluded here today.

The participating states, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, submitted their action plan on surveillance of STDs.

This National AIDS Control Organisation project, funded by WHO, aims at detecting the prevelance of these diseases in the area. The project will begin from December 1, informed Vinita Gupta, the state programme officer, STD.

About 10 centers in the city have been identified for the test project, which will begin in October.

Five paramedics, 10 lab technicians and 20 doctors would be trained for the project. The exercise will continue for three years in a phased manner. The first phase will be from December 1, 1998 to March 99.

Mohammad Shaukat Ali from NACO, Delhi said that all the states would submit their micro action plan before August 31.
