Wife’s ‘joke’ hurts Slater

Actor Christian Slater received stitches on his head and his wife Ryan Haddon was arrested for allegedly hitting him with a glass during a fight in a Las Vegas hotel on Tuesday.

Slater has declined to press charges. Police said he got 20 stitches, but his spokeswoman said he received nine after the scuffle at Hard Rock Hotel. Haddon was taken into custody at the hospital and released later. Slater, 34, initially told police that his wife threw a glass at him but ‘‘changed his story and said it was an accident’’ when he realised she would end up in jail, said a spokeswoman for Las Vegas Police.

He said the glass ‘‘slipped’’ out of his wife’s hand when she went to throw water in his face while the two were joking around. The spokeswoman said the explanation defied credibility given that the glass struck Slater on the back of the head. Slater declined to comment on the incident.
