The BJP has accused the Congress of not being serious about the formation of a separate state of Telangana and challenged the ruling party to take the initiative in this regard. The saffron party has said the Congress is trying to blame the opposition whereas the BJP supports immediate formation of Telangana.
8220;It is not the BJP, which is involved in any kind of double-speak on this issue but it is the Congress, which has betrayed the people of Telangana and is now indulging in a false blame game,8221; BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said on Thursday. Recalling that the new states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttrakhand were created during the BJP reign without any conflicts, Javdekar said the Congress was going back on its promise of Telangana, which was given in 2004 when the party fought elections in alliance with the TRS.
8220;Congress never wanted to create the state of Telangana and, therefore, it started pulling back its feet after the elections. The talk of second SRC is also irrelevant, as the first SRC has recommended a separate state of Telangana. There is no need for any committee or commission now. BJP on its part has passed a resolution in its National Executive for immediate formation of separate state of Telangana,8221; Javdekar added.
The BJP spokesperson also supported the formation of a separate state of Vidarbha out of Maharshatra. Javdekar said the party had already declared its support to Vidarbha, and it was for the Congress governments in Maharashtra and at the Centre to take the initiative to make it a reality.
